How to delete your CapCats account
Effective date: October 12, 2026
You can delete your CapCats account whenever you like. This page explains how, what disappears and what stays for a while. It is part of the Privacy Policy, which has the full detail.
CapCats is provided by Think Languages LLC. I'm Stefano, and I run CapCats for that company. In this page, "I" and "me" mean Think Languages LLC.
Delete your account in the app
This works for every account, guests included.
- Open CapCats and go to your profile.
- Tap the gear to open Settings.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Delete account and read what it says.
- Confirm. If you signed in with Apple or Google, CapCats asks you to sign in once more to check it's you. A guest confirms in a dialog.
Deletion is immediate. There is no waiting period and no way to undo it. Other people stop seeing your pictures right away.
What is deleted at once
- Your profile: alias, first name and profile photo.
- Your pictures and their files, including from other people's collections and Liked.
- Your cats, your collections and your Liked collection.
- Your likes, the pictures you hid, the pictures you have seen and the accounts you blocked.
- The reports you sent, and reports about your profile, your pictures and your collections.
- The sign in link to Apple or Google held for your account, and your sign in sessions.
What remains, and for how long
- Your alias stays reserved for 30 days, so nobody can take it straight away. After that the word itself stays on a list of released aliases, linked to nobody, until someone else takes it.
- Backups of the database made before the deletion still hold your data until Supabase removes them. The last 7 days of daily backups can be restored.
- Logs at Supabase, which can hold your account ID, your IP address and, for a secured account, your email address, stay for up to 7 days.
- Crash reports already at Sentry stay until they expire, which is at most 90 days after they were sent. They carry your account ID.
- Session records already at Sentry stay, with only a scrambled ID.
- Usage data at Google. Deleting your account does not ask Google to delete your usage data. That data is labeled with random IDs, never your account ID, and Google deletes it when it reaches its own retention limits, which the Privacy Policy gives.
- Apple. If you signed in with Apple, deleting your account removes the link to your Apple account from CapCats, but CapCats does not ask Apple to remove its permission. You can remove it yourself. On an iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Sign in with Apple, choose CapCats or its developer and tap Delete. On another device, sign in on account.apple.com and open Sign-In & Security, then Sign in with Apple.
- Emails you sent me are kept for as long as I need to answer you and follow up, and I delete them at the latest two years after your last message.
- Photos in your phone's gallery stay there. They are your own files.
- Anything shared outside CapCats, by you or by others, and anything other people saved to their own phones, can't be called back.
- Copies kept for speed. The picture files themselves are deleted straight away, but a copy kept for speed can go on loading for a while: a copy in Cloudflare's network for up to a year, and a copy on a phone or in a browser that already loaded the picture for as long as that phone or browser keeps it.
If you no longer have the app
Write to [email protected] from the email address of the Apple or Google account you signed in with, and ask me to delete your account. I delete an account by hand only when the request comes from that address. Otherwise I'll ask you to install the app, sign in and delete it there, so that nobody can delete someone else's account.
Two cases I can't do by email:
- If you hid your email when you signed in with Apple, I only have Apple's relay address for you, so I can't match your email. The only way is to install the app, sign in with the same Apple account and delete the account there.
- A guest account has no sign in at all, so I can't confirm by email that a request comes from the person who owns it. Delete it in the app, on the phone it lives on.
Guests
Deleting the CapCats app does not delete a guest account. Its public pictures stay visible to other people. If you want them gone, delete your account in Settings before you delete the app.
Smaller changes
If you don't want to delete everything, you can remove one thing at a time in the app: delete a picture, remove a picture from a collection, delete a collection, remove a location or a profile photo, or clear your first name.
